Cookie policy

Working draft — this page must be reviewed by Québec counsel before launch (bracketed placeholders are to be confirmed).

A cookie is a small file placed on your device when you visit a website; other identifiers, such as the browser’s local storage, work in a similar way. MIZU uses such identifiers to run the site, measure its usage and personalize your experience. This policy describes the categories we use and how to manage your consent, in accordance with Law 25.

Categories of identifiers used

  • Strictly necessary: session cookies, shopping-cart contents, language preference and site security; essential to the site’s operation, they are exempt from consent;
  • Analytics: the selected tool [ENABLED ONLY AFTER CONSENT — TOOL TO BE CONFIRMED, DEC-09] produces aggregate usage statistics used to improve the site;
  • Personalization: the product-recommendation profile, stored only with your consent and switchable off at any time.

Consent and managing your choices

On your first visit, a banner lets you accept or refuse each non-essential category granularly, and refusing is as easy as accepting. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time through the ‘Cookie settings’ link in the footer. Each choice is logged with its timestamp and the version of this policy, so that it can be evidenced if needed.

How long we keep them

  • Strictly necessary: for the session or the duration of the function they serve (for example, keeping your cart);
  • Analytics: a maximum lifetime set when the tool is deployed [RETENTION TO BE CONFIRMED];
  • Personalization: until you withdraw consent or delete the cookies yourself [RETENTION TO BE CONFIRMED].

Third-party cookies

When you pay by card, Stripe may place fraud-prevention cookies as part of securely processing the transaction; these cookies are necessary for payment security. At this stage, MIZU uses no targeted-advertising cookies.

Browser settings

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some site features, such as the cart or checkout, may then stop working properly. For everything concerning personal information, see the Privacy policy.
